Minikube Installation on Windows

  • Minikube starts a single node kubernetes cluster locally for purposes of development and testing.

Minikube supports the following Kubernetes features:

  • DNS
  • NodePorts
  • ConfigMaps and Secrets
  • Dashboards
  • Container Runtime: Docker, rkt, CRI-O, and containerd
  • Enabling CNI (Container Network Interface)
  • Ingress

Installation on Windows

First I just installed chocolatey ( Chocolatey is a package manager for Windows )

# Install chocolatey using powershell
Set-ExecutionPolicy Bypass -Scope Process -Force; iex ((New-Object System.Net.WebClient).DownloadString('https://chocolatey.org/install.ps1'))

# install minikube using chocolatey

choco install minikube -y

Start Minikube and create a cluster:

We can see new virtual machine boot up

$ kubectl version

$kubectl get nodes

$minikube dashboard

Dashboard will show up on your browser
